Chapter-7: Boa of Snake Island
Diego stretched and yawned on the pearl white sofa. He looked across the deck as he wiped his eyes. The ship had stopped and dropped anchor. He searched for Catelina and noticed a peculiar thing about the crew. They were all women. He stood and stretched his legs.
One of the lovely crew members came up to him. “Doña Catelina is waiting for you on the island, señor. Please, make ready to depart and go ashore.”
Diego nodded in agreement. Though, his attention drifted up to the clear night sky. How many hours had passed? He wondered. And he yawned and stretched some more, trying to push his grogginess away. He moved too soon. His head swirled within tipsy warmth. And, he lost his balance for a step.
Another crew member reached for him. “Careful, señor,” she said, “it takes some time for the …. ah ….” She held her tongue as her face blushed red. “Right, this way, the boat is ready to take you ashore.”
Diego lowered his attention on the island. He scanned the jungle of trees, bushes and powdery white sand. Only one mansion stood erect for as far as he could see.
The ocean rose and fell with an easy calm. And, the small boat moved with a gentle glide. Diego didn’t even notice his sea sickness as they approached Culebra Island. But, he felt his sickness for a moment as the boat scraped onto the white sand.
A maid in a black suit approached Diego and helped him out. She guided him along the beach and pointed to the main property.
On an elevated cliff side, a two story building faced the ocean. An elegant bone white mansion with Corinthian columns admired the ocean view.
Rolling waves crashed to the left side of Diego as he walked farther up the beach. A series of yellow fireballs caught his attention. In each direction along the fine sand, large bamboo torches flickered for at least a kilometer in both directions. While, to his right side, smaller red flamed torches illuminated a steep zig-zagging path that climbed to the upper level of the mansion.
Diego legs pumped hard with blood as he reached the top. He wiped sweat from his forehead and scanned his new surroundings. Several female servants worked quickly. They prepared a small dinner table for two next to the main building. Various fruits, sweet breads and nuts were organized on large porcelain platters.
Toward the cliff side, a golden brown pig roasted over embers of apple wood and mesquite coals. The smell of the pig made Diego’s mouth water and his stomach grumbled in agreement.
Coconut, banana and palm trees surrounded the large mansion. And, neatly trimmed grass surrounded various flower beds in bloom.
Diego approached the dinner table, and a curious sound caught his attention from two different locations. They called out, saying: “Co-kee, Co-kee.”
Diego searched for the source of the sounds; but he quickly changed his interest.
Catelina approached him in a silk amaranth robe, barefooted. The ankle length robe flowed over her body, hugging and forming onto her divine smooth curves.
“Bessos amor, I see you finally woke up from your nap.” Catelina licked her lips and raised her hands up and clapped twice. All her servants stopped. She clapped once more and pointed north. The servants turned around and quickly exited the dining area. Each servant moved in silence and followed a side path that led to another building, half a kilometer away.
“Why do you only have women serving you? Are there no men that serve you here?”
Catelina giggled as she touched Diego lightly on his chest: “Once more, you ask about the men. Maybe I was wrong about you, Diego, El Guerrero.”
A serious look spread across Diego’s face. “Only an observation, Catelina … perhaps, you’ve no interest in men? Maybe, I misjudged you.”
Catelina twirled in front of Diego like a ballerina dancer and smiled with a wicked wink. She said, “I have women serve me because I lose interest in men, for awhile, if they serve me. It’s disgusting to be served by a man. Besides, men fill a different purpose in my life. And, that’s how I like it.”
The curious sounds from before spoke up. Diego turned to the side and searched low along the garden and high above the tree line.
Catelina laughed. “That’s not a bird, mi capitan. It’s an adorable frog called the Coqui. Listen, do you hear … it calls its own name.”
Diego smiled as the little frogs talked with each other. He looked back at Catelina and glared at her. His excitement and curiosity for her grew harder. She walked naked under her red silk robe. Her nipples formed an obvious message that even a blind man could read.
“This is a nice place you have here.” Diego nodded with a slight smirk. “It doesn’t matter. I meant what I said earlier. I need context … before I’m close with any woman. I need truth. The more the better, even if it’s painful to recount. Lie to me; and you’ll dry my interests up.”
