Chapter-14: Under The Sun
Chuey side stepped along Diego’s forearm, and said: “This is a place of potentiality of trials. It is a space at a distance ahead of actual reality, between present and future. There are a mixture of causes and effects, effects and causes, echoing forward and backward through space, time and reality here.”
Diego nodded and felt a small grain of understanding without fully knowing what the little bird had said.
Instead, Diego struggled to maintain his composer. Chuey’s presence was to amusing to ignore much longer. It tickled Diego to see this little bird open and close his tinny tiny yellow beak. It stroked his laughter to see the little bird lift and drop its head feathers. Most stirring of all, the adorable eye blinking, head tilts and proud posture of the bird were hilarious. All these aspects of Chuey combined and sent Diego into a loud uproar of tearful laughter.
Chuey puffed his feathers, annoyed by the disrespect. He reached down and pecked at Diego’s forearm in three quick movements, and he clawed deep into his meaty arm.
Sharp pain slapped the laughter out of Diego. His faced winced and he tossed the little bird off his arm: “Little bird that hurts.”
The green bird flew in circles around Diego and said,
“Chuey, my name is Chuey. I know it hurts. That’s precisely why I did it, Guerrero. I thought you wanted to play the game of disrespect. It’s disrespectful to laugh and to look down on your guide; and, it’s disrespectful to physically attack your partner. Do you want to continue with this game?” Chuey flew around Diego, rising and cork screwing at various angles in the air.
“No, no, I apologize for the misunderstanding,” said Diego. He rubbed his forearm and then extended his other arm.
Chuey landed and side shuffled a few steps on Diego’s fresh forearm. The little green bird stretched and flapped his wings, and continued with his explanation:
“This place is a mixture of past, present, echoes of reality and future. The universe creates these echoes of space to help guide its expansion. It’s a way for the universe to look ahead before it steps forward.”
Diego looked at Chuey with a confused expression and said: “I think I understand; but, not all the way.”
Chuey angled his head and breathed out a soft sigh. He double tapped his beak open and close, and replied,
“Oh, I see. You’re in conflict with understanding and knowing the truth. This means that your intelligence doesn’t match your ability to perceive the truth of reality. Your total consciousness must be out of balance.” Three chirps and the little green bird flew in figure eights in front of Diego. “If you refuse to see the truth of reality, then any level of intelligence is useless.”
