The Eighth Law of Learning

The final law of learning re-emphasizes the purpose and order of fun in life. In particular, I am talking about the relationship that exists between fun and motivation, which functions as an interconnected system in life.

Simply stated, the use of motivation will always fatigue a person’s willpower; while the use of fun will always be used to allow for recovery, growth and adaptation of willpower.

The key idea here is that the main true purpose of fun can only be utilized after willpower has been worked, stressed and challenged within motivation in life, by a person’s free-will of use. Hence, there exists an objective, interconnected and order of reality between motivation and fun.

Otherwise, if a person aims at fun for the mere purpose of experiencing fun, then a person increases their risk of living a pleasure-centric or happiness-centric life. This is cause for much concern, since from an evolutionary perspective, pleasure and happiness are not equivalent. And neither one alone nor combined, in general, creates a meaningful or purposeful life.

Moreover, a person that becomes dependent on pleasure will make it difficult to experience happiness in their life, (see equation-2.1.)

The Eighth Law of Learning:

The purpose of fun is to allow for the factor of willpower to recover within a person’s motivation; such that, willpower must be stressed or trained sufficiently before fun has any meaning and proper function in life.

As before, the choice to hold this learning law or any of the other learning laws in high regard is up to you, the motivated reader. The truth of the matter is that the ideas presented in this chapter cannot be ignored. That is if you want to understand how learning works in actual reality. In other words, should the reader desire to improve their ability in learning, then the concepts within this chapter and in the previous chapter must have honest approximate solutions or reasonable responses.

My suggestions for the foundational beliefs and laws of learning have been stated. Furthermore, I stand by my claim that using these ideas will help anyone establish a proper belief system for studying and learning, and possibly more. Naturally, results will vary from individual to individual. However, with dedicated practice, I believe anyone can and will make improvements in their desired choice of study.
