Purpose of This Article

The main purpose of this article is to introduce the reader to my first novel, Guerrero of Passions, which I independently published in 2023.

To accomplish the purpose of this article, I am posting my reason for writing this book and the chapter contents.

Afterwards, my goal is to present five free chapters of this book online. I am aware that as a new writer it is only fair to allow readers free samples of my writing and my ideas. This provides readers with a better grasp of my writing and thinking, before a purchase is made either with your time, your money or both.

However, instead of posting the entire free chapters all at once, I will divide and post each of the five chapters into smaller blog posts over the course of multiple weeks.

For instance, Chapter-1: The Old Business of Men, will be divided into eight blog posts, spread over the course of eight Mondays, starting with the first post on 27 October 2025. Moving forward, I will also divide the other four free chapters in a similar manner and continue posting every Monday until finished.

Why I Wrote this Book

I decided to write this book to determine if I could use storytelling to aide in my thinking; and at the same time provide a useful story for others to learn from.

At the time of writing Guerrero of Passions, I was still trying to identify the proper words to express my philosophy on metaphysics. The main ideas in my mind at that time were: time, causality, rate of causality, dreams, time travel, consciousness, and old Mexican folktales like La Llorona. Of course, mixed in with all these concepts was the ever-present search for understanding: life, meaning of life, purpose of life, happiness and pleasure.

Turns out that writing fiction does help to clarify my thinking. After writing Guerrero of Passions, I now have a much stronger approximate answer to the questions that were gnawing at me during the writing process of my first novel.

Comment Expectations

At this point in my blogging, I am making comments available for the posts on this book, Guerrero of Passions, with specific boundaries of course. Among certain restrictions, any post that I publish will not be allowed to receive comments after four weeks. And, based on my current writing schedule and ability, I have allocated only a limited amount of time, on Saturdays, to read and to reply to some of the comments.

My expectation from these comments is not to have others correct my story or tell me how horrible my writing is. Instead, I am looking to see if readers see what I see in my writing, not if they like my prose or storytelling ability.

Truth is, I am not that strong of a writer to understand what likes and dislikes mean with respect to my writing. Instead, I am looking for comments that tell me what readers see, such as: can readers identify the protagonist from what I wrote in chapter one; can readers identify the main goal of the protagonist; are readers confused at certain points of my writing; can readers identify the time period and location of the story. Comments that focus on questions like these will better serve me as a writer.

Of course, any reader can choose to ignore me and find all the faults in my story, my writing ability and my philosophy of life. And, you are correct, I agree with you.

Even so, I will continue to write and work on improving my writing.

Thank You
