What to Expect?

The reader can expect an honest exploration of free will. The method used to accomplish this exploration included: the use of axioms; the use of some basic mathematical models; and, the use of my theory of consciousness from my book, Web of Consciousness: An interconnected Life.

Also, the goal of this book, How Does Free-Will Work?, is to develop a theory of free will, which may help readers gain a foundational understanding of free will. And, of course, it is the author’s hope that this book will be of some positive utility for any reader.

Introduction

Audience: The intended audience for this book is anyone interested in an honest perspective of how free-will works. To be clear, this book is not focused on trying to convince anyone that free-will exists. In other words, if you believe that free-will does not exist, then there is nothing I can say to convince you otherwise. The primary purpose of this manuscript is to explain how free-will functions in reality, given that it is assumed or believed to be true that free-will exists.

Method of Approach: My claim is that, this book provides an alternative approach to understanding how free-will works in real life. However, in order to talk about the intricacies of free-will, I will need to talk about the intricacies of consciousness and evolution. This will become apparent once I provide my general definition of free-will, and then more so with my specific definition of free-will.

Goal: The main goal of this book is to provide as close to an unbiased explanation of free-will as possible; and, of course, to answer the overall arching question of this manuscript: How Does Free-Will Work?

Disclaimer: The ideas presented within this manuscript may or may not be of use to you. I make no 100% guaranties of outcomes. My general perspective is that, if the ideas within this book help you make progress in your understanding of free-will, then great, use them. However, if the ideas presented in this manuscript do not help you in your understanding of free-will, then consider using other books. But, consider books from a positive and morally good perspective of humanity.

Structure: This book is divided into seven chapters. Each chapter builds the needed groundwork upon which the answer to the question of this manuscript rests: How Does Free-will work? Most of the ideas within this book are based on my philosophy on meta-physics, which is contained in my unabridged book: Web of Consciousness: An Interconnected Life. However, the main organization of this book is explicitly aimed at free-will.

Why this Book? Why should you read this book? Or, rather, why should you consider my ideas on free-will?

My first response is for you to review the table of contents of this manuscript. I have listed as much information to describe each chapter’s contents. Based on the contents page, readers can gather an approximate overall direction of my ideas within this book.

My second response is that there is a huge difference in my observations on free-Will as compared with others.

The key idea that distinguishes my perspective of free-will is that, I claim that free-will is a function of consciousness. Where, at the heart of my philosophy on meta-physics, I reject the constricted one-dimensional assumptions of consciousness. In contrast with other philosophies, my understanding of consciousness asserts that consciousness is composed of at least three main types, or rather three main orders of organization.

My third response to help you decide on this book is you, the motivated reader. Use your own assessment and judgment. I know that you will be able to decide on this book, after reading the table of contents, the introduction and the first free chapters of this book on Amazon or on my website: totalconsciousnesses.com. Keep in mind that all things come with some level of risk. Still, in the end, I know you will find the perspective within this manuscript to be distinct from other books on free-will.

Be Successful: Regardless of the decision you make with this book, motivated reader; I wish you the best of luck in your creation of a meaningful and purposeful life. And, may you find profitable success throughout your life, with or without this book, in your pursuit of knowledge and in your understanding of the world.
