The main purpose of this article is to introduce readers to my second novel, Luz Upon The World. And, to let readers know about the two-day, free e-book sale.
The sale is for two full days, on 31 December 2025 and on 01 January 2026.

What to Expect?
Brief summary of what the story is about:
The story opens with Luz Rey Del’Mundo in 1821 as he journeys across old Mexico. His goal is simple. Reach the pueblo of Palomas, Jalisco in time to participate in his New Years Eve battle. Victory in this mythical end of the year war is monumental to his existence. Win the fight and he earns back his old memories, memories of his origin and of his purpose in life.
Luz is accompanied by his pit bull assistant, Cana, as he walks the required thousands of miles to reach Palomas, Jalisco. On his journey to reach his heroic end of the year battle of 1821, he must fight against his temptations that urge him to slow down.
Along his path to Palomas, Luz encounters a unique choice of temptation in his path. To help a woman in desperate need or to simply ignore her. His encounter with this woman proves to be greatly significant. So much so, that her mere presence will threaten to break his three-hundred-year-old routine of taking no lover.
The battle is set once more for New Year’s Eve. The year is 1821 and Luz is on the move, and magic is in each breath. Will Luz finally win against the greatest challenge he has ever faced in his long life? Will his new woman of interest—the only female companion in the past three hundred years—help him or hold him back in his yearend fight? Will Luz succeed and earn back his old memories and rub out the void of meaninglessness in his heart? The year approaches its end. And the new year moves to be born; but will it cry with the magic of victory or of defeat? Come, join Luz and his hellhound Cana, and journey along to witness the greatest, cataclysmic, end of the year battle of the millennium.
Warning: This novel is for an adult reader audience, for years greater than 18. This novel contains some graphic violence, sexually explicit scenes and ideas of reality that may be too heavy for a younger reader. Also, there is a limited use of some Spanish sprinkled throughout the novel, but this will not interfere with the overall story.
Genre: This story is a supernatural quest for meaning in life—from a male’s perspective—set in a tequila western novel with minor hints of fantastical and romance elements.
Thematic and philosophical elements:
The main theme throughout this novel is a quest for meaning and purpose of personal life. At the heart of this novel, I am exploring why meaning and purpose are so important to a man in life. Critically, I am writing about the idea that meaning and purpose are not found in a man’s life. Instead, meaning and purpose are created by each individual man’s choices in life.
Also, I used this story, Luz Upon The World, to explore and to gain a stronger understanding of consciousness. The key assumption I am challenging in this novel is that consciousness is not one entire piece. As a consequence of rejecting this dogmatic assumption of consciousness, I was able to explore—well, at least from a narrative perspective—various mysterious elements of life, such as: magic, good and evil, time and causality, human limits of understanding and power, and reality as it is.
