Chapter-4: Satisfy Me
Luz set the chicken aside and rinsed his hands clean and reached for a plate and fork.
“There wasn’t enough energy, enough food,” he said. “Healing requires energy from your stomach. I need more energy to repair broken bones, bruises and cuts. Otherwise, if I heal you on an empty stomach, the process takes from your life force on Earth. Here, eat this.”
Nanda agreed with a slow nod and reached for the hot plate: blueberry pancakes and roasted chicken.
“Seems about right,” she said, “all things come at a price, I suppose.” She forked off pieces from the chicken and pancakes and smiled at Luz. “Thank you for the food.” Her stomach growled louder and twisted. Unable to hold back, she devoured her first plate of food quickly, chomping and swallowing with no reservation or shame.
“That was an incredible meal, señor. It was delicious.”
“Two more plates will do it,” said Luz. He placed another serving of food in front of her and prepared a third.
Nanda laughed and flinched at the pain in her ribs.
“Whoa, whoa, wait a moment. I’m sure I can manage maybe a second plate; but definitely not a third one, señor.”
Luz waved his hand at Nanda and grinned.
“The third plate is for after you are healed.”
“Oh, I see,” said Nanda. “That makes sense. Once healed, it’s all used up.” She set herself to eating. And, though on her second plate, she still chewed and swallowed quickly.
Another bite and Nanda finished all her food. She leaned back and rubbed her plump belly, and flashed Luz an awkward smile as she adjusted her skirt.
“That was very good, senor,” she said, “but my stomach is overstuffed. I don’t think I can eat another bite for a while.”
Luz stood in front of Nanda and held out his hand above her head: “This will hurt … a lot; so, prepare yourself, mujer.”
Nanda leaned forward in her seating position. She looked up at Luz with gulps of apprehension and braced her core. “Okay, I’m ready. Go on with it, señor.”
Luz’s right hand glowed yellow, hot reddish-orange and then a dark forest green. Pulse by pulse, the light from his hand flowed down, spreading heat and green light all over Nanda.
“Here it goes,” said Luz.
Stronger heat concentrated over Nanda’s face and burned her for several moments, causing her to flinch. The heat moved and concentrated on her left side. Several cracks and pops emanated from her ribs, causing Nanda to gasp and to tear up.
Heat and thick sweat covered her entire body: “That wasn’t too ….” A loud snap from her left ankle caused her to feel cold faint, knocking all her thoughts away. The sharp pain rammed up her leg and forced her to yell. In defense, she closed her eyes and shot her arms forward for support. Several trembling breaths later, she opened her eyes and released her grip of Luz’s muscular left thigh and his firm right butt cheek.
The dark green light and heat faded away.
Nanda wiped beads of sweat from her face.
“There,” said Luz, “it’s all done. How do you feel?”
