Chapter-4: Satisfy Me
Nanda stood up slowly. She inspected where her injuries had been; and she felt no pain or tightness or discomfort. A giddy rush came over her, and a huge smile crept up onto her face.
She walked around Luz with half steps, and she touched each part of her face several times. Both her eyes felt normal. And, with much exaggeration, she grinned and frowned and puckered her lips with no pain.
Her legs felt strong with each skip and jump. And, with a quick turn she climbed onto a boulder, and leapt off.
“I don’t’ know how you did it,” said Nanda. “Don’t really care. All that matters is that I feel amazingly better.” She hugged herself tight and looked up at the tree canopy. “What a feeling, such an immense release covers my entire body. It’s left me feeling all tingly and hot and wet, just like after climaxing from …. Thank you so much, gracias señor. I hope to repay the favor soon.”
A loud growl escaped from Nanda’s stomach. Red-faced, she covered her mouth with one hand and her stomach with her other hand. She laughed.
“You’re right, señor; I’m starving. It’s such an odd sensation. I feel as though I haven’t eaten anything in days.” Nanda picked up her third full plate of food. Eating once more and savoring each taste with slow bites.
She maneuvered over to a large boulder facing the campfire and sat down. She smiled with immense gratitude at Luz and continued to eat without any worry.
“By the way, Nanda,” said Luz. “The smell of your heart and soul … you don’t seem pleased with the death of those three men from last night. Do you regret your choice?”
Nanda cringed and bit the side of her tongue. Her heart thumped in her ears as she touched her mouth and swallowed her food. Fresh sweat spread over her breasts, and her eyes opened wide, exposing bright whites.
“No, señor, that’s not it. I’m much obliged by your help. It’s another matter that weighs heavy on my heart.”
Nanda looked at her boots and plunged herself into a sharp memory. Her chest rose and fell with deep uneasy breaths.
“Those three men from last night,” she said. “They were hired by a woman.” Nanda’s face twisted into a mess of disgust and contempt. “A woman named … Claridad Torres. She drugged me and bought my death for thirty pieces of gold and gave me to those men.”
Luz interrupted. “I see. Then my work has not been fulfilled. Do you have anything of hers, something with her scent?”
Nanda inhaled deeply in between bites of food and replied with a dispirited tone:
“There was a small white bag of hers; it contained the gold. The bag is in the black satchel, attached to Aquel’s saddle. It’s on the horse with white spots on its rear. But those horses are long gone, señor.”
