The Seventh Interconnected Question of Consciousness:

What is the law of truth?

     All writers need to have an honest understanding of the importance of truth in life. Otherwise, such a writer will never be able to create meaningful and believable models of life in their writing. Yes, even though fiction writers work in imagined worlds, imagined characters and imagined stories, all writing—fiction and nonfiction—depend on the foundation of truth that is invariant across any imagined model that contains life. Meaning that, there are ideas and beliefs that cannot be changed in the universe, in reality or in any model of life, such as a story.

     Basically, there exist immutable objective aspects of reality that are needed in order for life, human life, to succeed in evolution. One of the goals of a writer is to wrestle with these aspects or conditions of reality in their writing, be it fiction or nonfiction. 

     Of course, you may believe that some aspects of writing are about pure entertainment. But I can assure you that, from an evolutionary perspective, only positive entertainment contributes to positive evolution.

     Strangely enough, I will not define or approximate what truth is. Instead, I state a law about truth that most people misconstrue because of a lack of full awareness of the law of truth.

The Law of Truth

The truth will set you free if and only if

you are strong enough and willing enough to accept the truth.

     Of course, you do not have to accept this law as being correct. Though, I adamantly believe that The Law of Truth (as stated above) is a correct model of life.

     Now, for the sake of argument, suppose this is a true biconditional statement of the form, P iff [Q and R]. Then when we break apart the components from a purely logical approach, we have the following true statements:

     1. If P, then Q and R

     2. If Q and R, then P.

     Equivalently, we have the true contrapositive statements, which are:

     3. If not Q or not R, then not P

     4. If not P, then not Q or not R.

     As a result, the Law of Truth means that: 1. If the truth will set you free, then you are strong enough and willing enough to accept the truth. Also, 2. if you are strong enough and willing enough to accept the truth, then the truth will set you free.

     Move in extra close, the priceless power of the law of truth is uncovered when we consider the contrapositive of the law of truth, which states:

     3. If you are not strong enough or not willing enough to accept the truth, then the truth will not set you free. Also, 4. If the truth will not set you free, then you are not strong enough or not willing enough to accept the truth.

     Considering the equivalent contrapositive form of the law of truth, we arrive at some very nonintuitive conclusions. Above all, the truth must obey the free will property of life and not force acceptance or change in a person, even though it is the truth. Hence the law of truth must exist within the biconditional statement above.

     As a result, knowing the truth is not always a positive experience in reality. In fact, often, knowing the truth can imprison, enslave, torment and negatively overwhelm an individual into a world of misery.

     Furthermore, it becomes clear that one general purpose of life is: to become strong enough and willing enough to be able to handle as much truth of reality.

     Considering it from an evolutionary perspective, writing and reading are ways to help others become stronger and willing enough to accept the truth of reality, life and all other aspects of being alive. Moreover, reading fiction (based on the law of truth) becomes a massive way in which human beings can inoculate themselves against the uncertainties of reality.

The law of truth states that: The truth will set you free if and only if you are strong enough and willing enough to accept the truth.
