Chapter-7: Boa of Snake Island

Diego strained under her presence. By some miracle, he managed to move despite her immense glowing radiance. He said: “Buenas tardes, señora, are you the owner of Fajardres Trading Company?”

The woman adjusted her red dress and sat down with an easy sigh. She crossed her smooth legs, stacking them at an angle. “Mmmm, it is one of my smaller companies, Diego. Did you expect a man to be the owner? Well, well, I didn’t know you had such interests. Come, hombre, the food is getting cold.”

Diego blushed. “I meant no disrespect. And, to be clear, I only have interests in women, señora.” He sat down across from her.

With elegance, the woman reached for an empanada from her plate. She chewed and swallowed as she stared at her lovely personal banker.

“Come now, eat.” She gazed at Diego and winked and air kissed at him twice. “Catelina … call me that, instead of señora.”

Diego settled in to eat and took a couple of bites and swallowed his food at a fast pace. “Going? Where to?” He asked as he consumed more of her intoxicating beauty.

“My private home on a little island … not far from here, it’s two, maybe three hours at most.”

Diego dropped his food down. He looked over his shoulder, out toward the beach. There was a small boat docked; and, farther out he could see a ship anchored in wait. He frowned and wiped his mouth.

“I appreciate the offer; but …”

“But, nothing, I know of your sea sickness. Trust me … come with me. I will take care of that sickness on the ship, mi capitán. Besides, you’re here because I sent for you. Everything that was conducted here in the morning meeting could’ve occurred in Mexico City. The reason you are here is because I wanted you … I wanted you here. Of all the places in the world, I wanted to take you on my very own land.”

Diego nodded. “This explains a lot, Catelina. Still … I’m not interested in what you have to offer.” A shock of nauseating pain wrenched through his body after he finished speaking. His soul trembled at the lie he had just uttered. Quaking inside, his heart and hips begged and yelled for the truth to be spoken. He wanted her desperately.

A spirited open look broke on Catelina’s face. She said: “There is no need to play hard to get, Diego. I already got you. Be a nice gentleman, tell the truth. We both know that this deal is sealed. I’ve never met a man to say no to me. Come now, stop with this game and get on that boat. You don’t want me to be disappointed.”

Diego adjusted in his seat and quickly finished another empanada. In the end, he stood erect from the table. “Fine, I agree. However, I will need some context of your character before anything—it’s mandatory and non-negotiable. That’s the policy I hold for any woman in my life.”

“Magnificent, amor … come, come, let’s go.” Catelina extended her hand to Diego. He grinned and reached for her. A blue spark arched and popped between their hands.

Diego recoiled in pain. He looked at his hand and soothed it with his other.

Catelina licked her lips. “Ah, ha, ha, ha … do you see, we have a spark that connects us. Try again, amor. Don’t stop because of a little pain.”

Deep reds and hot pinks flushed across Diego’s face. He grabbed onto Catelina’s hand and walked to the dock.

They reached the small boat at a slow pace. Two women in black suits jumped out and helped the couple into the boat. Settled in, the two women in their tight suits rowed toward the ship.

Half way to the ship, Diego looked over his shoulder at the stable land. He looked pale and weary as the boat hopped along the waves. His stomach spoke up with the half digested empanadas, churning and bubbling in his stomach.

Thank you for reading. Next Monday I will continue with the next part of chapter seven, from my first novel: Guerrero of Passions.
